Chapters & learning objectives
1. Bronchospasm
This first chapter presents important terminology and concepts of pulmonary function to better understand and treat bronchospasm and other pulmonary conditions. After a firm foundation in the pulmonary system, apply this knowledge to asthma and EIB.
2. Exercise Induced Bronchospasm and Treatment
Dr. Todd Arnold then focuses in on treatment for EIB and asthma. Pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment options are thoroughly covered in turn, presenting the participant with a strong foundation from which to inform their athletes of key considerations for these conditions.
3. Vocal Cord Dysfunction, Pneumothorax, and Hemothorax
This chapter provides an important understanding of three pulmonary conditions seen in athletes: vocal cord dysfunction, pneumothorax, and hemothorax. Complete this chapter to detect the signs, symptoms, and best treatment options of these conditions.
4. Cases
Learn techniques for better communication with your athletes related to their pulmonary function testing and diagnosis. Dr. Arnold demonstrates two different patient interactions important for obtaining information about their condition. Then, test your knowledge with these case questions in preparation for the SCS exam and your practice.
