1. Cardiac Rehabilitation: Indications and Programs
This chapter reviews the background of, indications for, and specific activities in a cardiac rehabilitation program. The history and background of cardiac rehabilitation is discussed, along with goals and anticipated outcomes. The phases of cardiac rehabilitation are presented and benefits of cardiac rehabilitation will be discussed.
2. Disease Conditions Requiring Cardiac Rehabilitation
This chapter reviews the disease conditions requiring cardiac rehabilitation, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, congenital conditions, and valvular disease. and appropriate nursing interventions for the cardiac rehabilitation patient. Indications for rehabilitation will be discussed.
3. The Nurse’s Role in Cardiac Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation nurse’s role in caring for patients with cardiac disorders is essential to promote positive patient outcomes.
