Morgan Johanson

PT, MSPT, CCS

Morgan Johanson has more than 20 years of experience practicing physical therapy in the cardiovascular and pulmonary patient population. She is a board-certified cardiovascular and pulmonary specialist and an APTA-certified advanced clinical instructor.

Morgan is the president of Good Heart Education, a continuing education company that provides in-person and online seminars in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy and mentoring for the cardiovascular and pulmonary specialty (CCS) examination. She has worked as a level 3 acute care physical therapist at the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) and as the coordinator for the inpatient and outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS). In addition, she was a codirector, mentor, and faculty member for the VAAAHS cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy residency program. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan–Flint and is currently an adjunct faculty member in the University of Toledo’s DPT program in Toledo, Ohio. She is currently treating patients at the Grand Traverse Pavilions Rehabilitation Center.

In 2004, Morgan received the Service Star for excellence in patient care from CPMC. In 2022, she received the Merit Award from the Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy. She is a contributing author to the fourth and fifth editions of Essentials of Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy by Ellen Hillegass. She was the lead investigator for APTA’s Entry-Level Competencies in Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Academy of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy, the APTA Acute Care Section, and the APTA Michigan chapter.
